Abstract

Responsibility as a personal trait plays an important role in performing any activity. Scholars relate responsibility to the reliability of a pro, his success, ability to develop and self-actualize. However, there exists solid academic evidence of such destructive consequences of responsibility as professional burnout, occupational deformations, stress, and procrastination. The study aimed to define the impact of responsibility on emotional and personal wellbeing. The author treats this state as harmony between inner and outer worlds in all spheres of human life. The study methods included research methodology to examine responsibility and the authorial Self-Assessment of Emotional and Personal Wellbeing (SEPW) scale. According to the results, responsibility has several socio-demographic predictors: gender – men are more likely to assume responsibility for the success; age – the younger the respondents, the more intense their readiness to take responsibility; occupation – psychologists, doctors, and internal affairs officers appreciate their responsibilities and duties more than other professionals. All manifestations of responsibility are associated with emotional and personal wellbeing. Another finding was that a person with a low level of responsibility tends to experience emotional and individual ill-being, while people with a high level of responsibility are prone to
sensating emotional and personal wellbeing.

Keywords responsibility, inner wellbeing, emotional and personal wellbeing.
