Abstract | Transitivity is a characteristic of today’s social reality, and in the context of transitivity, a new queer theory as a manifestation of the non-binary system is being developed. The authors reflected on a new concept of gender Transitivity is a characteristic of today’s social reality, and in the context of transitivity, a new queer theory as a manifestation of the non-binary system is being developed. The authors reflected on a new concept of gender based on the deconstruction of such categories as masculinity and femininity as elements of the individual’s identity. The relevance of this topic is evident in the conditions of a changing transitive society as social crises provoke personal ones. It is these tendencies that paved the way for studying the identity of transgenders and this paper. We exploited both questionnaires and interviews in the study. Frequency analysis, semantic similarity, the Student’s T-criterion, and the Mann-Whitney T-test were of help in the data processing. The results revealed that the transgenders’ identity differs from the cis-genders identity in the following parameters: categories of sex and gender are more intense in the structure of their identity; self-awareness through world outlook prevails; a clearer future self–image. A specific feature of transgenders is high reflexivity, and they almost ignore a structural element of the bodily self. They also exhibit negative self-attitude. Thus, our findings confirmed the hypothesis of significant differences in the structure of the transgenders and cis-genders identity. |
