Abstract

The dependence of tourism on internal and external environmental factors actualizes the issues associated with hotel security provision. We suppose hospitality security to be a form of protection against the essential weaknesses of service products presented in the business-structure of the hotel operations. The specificity of security provision in the hospitality industry is determined by not only the nature and forms of requests on the part of service subjects but also an institutional mode of their interaction. The institutional characteristics of hospitality activities disclose their ties with social processes. The study aimed to define the possibilities of building the security perimeter of a hotel product as an object of the tourist infrastructure. The necessity to create a flexible organizational model of hotel risk-management capable of ensuring security stability and the quality of service justified our aim. Based on institutional, functional, and system approaches together with perspectives of tourism sociology, the author made an effort to define the conditions of the formation of the hotel security perimeter. Risk-management theory allowed for characterizing an organizational model that provides security stability and guarantees the quality of services. The paradigm of security psychology actualized the opportunities of risk-management at a micro-level of interactions between service contact participants. The provision of security of lodging enterprises embraces as follows: concerns for the personal safety of the guests and the staff; privacy protection for the clients and personnel’ information; the confidentiality of information on the company market position and its assets. Effective measures to ensure the safety perimeter built into the system of corporate regulations guarantee the stability and the effective management of all units of the hotel.

Keywords the security perimeter, hotel risk management, need for security, safety passport of an entity, hospitality product, potential risks.
